When you're working with a large collection of components in your KiCad library, managing them can become a daunting task. This is especially true when you need to filter and categorize parts based on specific criteria. In this article, we'll explore how to create a database for your KiCad library using SQLite Studio.

One of the key features of KiCad's version 7 is its ability to integrate with databases. This allows you to store and manage your components in a more organized way. In this case study, I'll be sharing my experience creating a database for my own KiCad library.

Database Design

Before we dive into how to create the database, let's talk about the design. The key phrase here is 'unable to open database file sqlitestudio'. I also created a script to automatically generate the 3D models and symbols for each component. This saved me a lot of time and effort.
